Set limits on price points

In this article: How to add optional restrictions to your price points, including access duration, seat caps, sign-up start dates, and expiration dates. All Plans

Sometimes you want more control over how and when students can enroll. Maybe you're running a limited cohort and need to cap seats at 20. Or you're offering an early-bird price that should expire before launch day. Price point limits let you do all of this without creating extra price points.

When you create or edit a price point, you can set up to four optional restrictions: access limits, number of seats, sign-up start date, and expiration date. You can use any combination of these, or none at all.

Set access limits

Access limits restrict how long a student can access your course after enrolling through a specific price point. This is useful for time-limited programs, certification windows, or trial-style access.

  1. Go to Manage Course → Price Points and click the price point you want to edit (or create a new one).
  2. Toggle on Access limits.
  3. Choose a preset duration from the dropdown (the default is 180 days), or select Custom duration to enter your own number of days.
  4. Save the price point.

Students who enroll through this price point will lose access after the specified number of days. Students enrolled through other price points on the same course are not affected.

You can change or remove the access limit at any time. Updating the limit affects future enrollments only.

Set a seat limit

A seat limit caps how many students can enroll through a particular price point. Once all seats are filled, that price point is no longer available.

  1. Go to Manage Course → Price Points and click the price point.
  2. Enter the number of seats in the Number of seats field.
  3. Save the price point.

For example, if you're offering a discounted early-bird price to the first 25 students, set the seat limit to 25 on that price point. Once 25 students enroll, the price point closes automatically. Your other price points (like a full-price option) stay open.

You can increase or decrease the seat limit at any point.

Set a sign-up start date

A start date controls when a price point becomes available for enrollment. Before that date, the price point won't appear as an option for students.

  1. Go to Manage Course → Price Points and click the price point.
  2. Under Allow signups starting, click the field that says "now."
  3. Select the date and time you want the price point to become available using the calendar picker, then click Apply.

This is helpful when you want to build your sales page and price points ahead of time but delay enrollment until a specific date. For example, you could set a launch-day price point to open on the first day of your promotion.

You can change or remove the start date at any time.

Set an expiration date

An expiration date automatically closes a price point on a specific date. After it expires, students can no longer enroll through it.

  1. Go to Manage Course → Price Points and click the price point.
  2. Under Expires, click the field that says "never."
  3. Select the date and time you want the price point to expire using the calendar picker, then click Apply.

For example, if you're running a 2-week early-bird promotion, set the discounted price point to expire at the end of those two weeks. Your regular-price point stays open.

You can change or remove the expiration date at any time.

Common limit combinations

Here are a few setups creators use:

  • Limited cohort: Set a seat limit of 20 on your main price point to keep the group small.
  • Early-bird pricing: Create a discounted price point with an expiration date, plus a full-price point with no expiration.
  • Enrollment window: Set both a start date and an expiration date on a price point so enrollment is only open during a specific period.
  • Trial access: Combine access limits (30 or 60 days) with a lower price to offer short-term access.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do limits apply to all price points or just the one I edit?
Limits apply only to the specific price point you set them on. If you have multiple price points on a course, each one has its own independent limits. Students enrolled through other price points are not affected.
What happens when a seat limit is reached?
Once all seats are filled, that price point is no longer available for new enrollments. Students will see your other active price points (if any). If that was your only price point, the course will appear as closed for enrollment.
Can I change limits after students have already enrolled?
Yes. You can update or remove any limit at any time. Changes apply to future enrollments. Students who already enrolled through that price point keep whatever access they were granted at the time of enrollment.
