Copy a course

In this article: How to duplicate a course so you can reuse its content and structure without starting from scratch. All Plans

When you'd use this

Copying a course is useful when you want to run a new cohort of the same program, create a variation of an existing course, or use one course as a template for another. The copy includes all your modules, lessons, and content. Students are never copied over, so you start with a clean enrollment.

Copy a course

  1. Go to your Courses page.
  2. Find the course you want to copy and click the gear icon on the course card.

  1. Click Copy Course from the menu.

  1. Give your new course a name (or keep the default).
  2. If you want to bring over the sales page, price points, and coupons from the original, toggle that option on. Otherwise, leave it off and set those up fresh.

  1. Click Copy Course.

Ruzuku creates the copy and opens it automatically so you can start editing right away.

Tip: Messages and meetings are copied from the original course. Review them in your new course before enrolling students to make sure dates, times, and content are still accurate.

What gets copied

Included in the copy Not included
All modules and lessons Students and their data
Content (text, video, audio, files) Student discussions and submissions
Course settings and access format Enrollment status (starts closed)
Messages and meetings
Sales page, price points, coupons (optional)

Any changes you make to the copy don't affect the original course, and vice versa. They're completely independent after the copy is created.

Frequently Asked Questions

Are students copied to the new course?
No. The copy starts with zero students enrolled. All student data, discussions, and assignment submissions stay with the original course.
Can I copy a course on a Pro site from one account to another?
Yes. Pro site admins can copy courses between accounts. See Copy courses from one account to another for details.
Will changes to the copy affect the original?
No. Once a course is copied, the two courses are completely independent. Editing one has no effect on the other.
