Use other shopping carts or payment tools

In this article: How to sell your course through an external shopping cart or payment system and still get students enrolled in Ruzuku. All Plans

Ruzuku integrates directly with Stripe and PayPal for payments. But if you already use a different shopping cart, payment tool, or sales platform, you can still sell your course there and enroll students in Ruzuku.

The approach is straightforward: take payment through your external tool, then give students a free enrollment link for Ruzuku.

Set up the enrollment flow

  1. Go to Manage Course → Price Points and create a Free price point. This is the enrollment path for students who have already paid elsewhere.
  2. Copy the checkout link for that free price point. Click Copy checkout link on the price point you just created.

The Copy checkout link button on a free price point

  1. Add the link to your external checkout flow. You have a few options depending on how your shopping cart and website work:

    • Thank-you page: Put the enrollment link on the page students see right after purchasing.
    • Redirect after purchase: Forward students directly to the Ruzuku checkout link after payment completes (if your cart supports redirects).
    • Confirmation email: Include the enrollment link in the email your payment tool sends after purchase.

Use whichever method (or combination) works best with your existing setup. The goal is to get the free enrollment link in front of students right after they pay.

Alternative: Use invitations for manual enrollment

If you prefer more control, you can skip the free price point approach and instead send free invitations directly to students after they purchase. Invitations are tied to specific email addresses, so they can't be shared or forwarded.

This is a manual process, so it works best for smaller groups or situations where you want tight control over who gets access.

Tips for a smooth experience

  • Test the flow yourself. Go through the entire purchase-and-enrollment process to make sure the link works and the experience is seamless for students.
  • Add context for students. On your thank-you page or in your confirmation email, include a brief note like: "Click the link below to access your course. You'll create an account on Ruzuku, our course platform."
  • Set a signup limit on the free price point if you want to control how many students can enroll through the link. This adds a safety net against the link being shared beyond your intended audience.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will students see a $0 price when they enroll?
Students see a free enrollment page where they create a Ruzuku account and click Enroll. No price is displayed.
Can I use this approach with any payment tool?
Yes. As long as your payment tool lets you share a link after purchase (via thank-you page, redirect, or email), you can connect it to Ruzuku's free enrollment flow. This works with Gumroad, ThriveCart, SamCart, WooCommerce, or any other checkout system.
What if someone gets the free enrollment link without paying?
Anyone with the link can enroll for free. If this is a concern, use the free invitations approach instead, which ties each enrollment to a specific email address. You can also set a signup limit on the free price point to restrict the number of enrollments.
