Why record in discussions?

Sometimes it is easier to say something than type it. You can record a short video or audio clip right inside a discussion reply. Your recording is uploaded and shared in the conversation so other students and your instructor can play it back.

How to record and post

  1. Open the discussion and click Reply.
  2. Click Add media, then select Video or audio file.

  1. Choose either Record video or Record audio.

  1. Click Begin Recording. Your browser may ask permission to use your camera or microphone. Click Allow.

  1. When you are finished, click the stop button, then click Accept & upload.

  1. You will see your recording attached to your reply. Click the red Reply button to post it.

  1. Your recording now appears in the discussion for others to play.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need to install anything to record?
No. Recording works directly in your browser. You just need to allow your browser to access your camera or microphone when it asks.
Is there a time limit on recordings?
There is no strict time limit, but shorter recordings (a few minutes or less) upload faster and are easier for others to watch. If you have a lot to share, consider breaking it into a couple of shorter clips.
Can I re-record if I make a mistake?
Yes. After stopping the recording, you can choose to discard it and start over before clicking Accept & upload.
