When to remove media

You might need to remove media from a lesson if you're replacing a video with an updated version, removing an outdated image, or restructuring your lesson content. Deleting media from a lesson doesn't affect any other lessons in your course.

Remove media from a lesson

  1. Open your course and go to Manage Course (keyboard shortcut: Cmd+K on Mac, Ctrl+K on Windows).
  2. Click Modules & Lessons in the Content column.
  3. Open the lesson that contains the media you want to remove.
  4. Click on the media element (video, audio, image, or file). A blue border will appear around it to confirm it's selected.
  5. Press the Delete key on your keyboard.

The media is removed from the lesson immediately. Your changes save automatically.

Tip: To replace media rather than just delete it, remove the old file first, then click Add media to upload the new one.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does deleting media from a lesson delete it permanently?
Yes. Once you remove media from a lesson and save, it's gone. If you need the file again, you'll need to re-upload it.
Will students notice if I replace a video?
Students will see the updated lesson the next time they open it. Their completion status for the lesson is preserved — they won't need to re-complete it.
