Set enrollment limits for your course
In this article: How to cap enrollment at a specific number of seats, customize the message students see when your course is full, and how Ruzuku notifies you as you approach capacity. All Plans
When you'd use this
Enrollment limits are useful when you're running a cohort with a fixed group size, offering a premium small-group experience, or creating scarcity for a launch. You set a maximum number of seats, and Ruzuku automatically stops accepting new signups once the course is full.
If you don't set a limit, enrollment is unlimited by default.
Set a seat limit
- Open the Manage Course menu (Cmd+K on Mac, Ctrl+K on Windows).
- Click Course Settings under the Actions column.
- Click the Limits tab in the left sidebar.
- Toggle Limit the number of seats to on.
- Enter the maximum number of seats (up to 20,000).
- Click Save.
Once the limit is active, Ruzuku tracks how many students have enrolled and prevents new signups when the course reaches capacity.
Customize the "course full" message
Below the seat limit, you'll see a rich text editor for the No seats available message. This is what prospective students see on your sales page when the course is full.
The default message is: "This course is no longer available because it is full. Please contact [your email] with any questions."
You can customize this to include a waitlist link, information about the next cohort, or a link to a different course. The editor supports text formatting and links.
You can write this message in advance — it only appears to students when the course actually reaches capacity.
Automatic notifications
Ruzuku sends you an email notification at two milestones:
- 80% full — a heads-up that seats are almost gone, so you can plan accordingly.
- 100% full — confirmation that the course has reached capacity.
Each notification fires once. If you change the seat limit, the notifications reset so you'll be notified again at the new thresholds.
Enrollment limits vs. price point limits
The seat limit on this page is a course-wide cap — it applies to total enrollment regardless of which price point a student uses.
Price points have their own separate limits (maximum purchases, available dates, expiration dates). These are configured in each price point's settings, not here. See Set limits on price points for details.
Both types of limits can work together. For example, you could set a course-wide cap of 50 seats and also limit an early-bird price point to the first 20 purchases.
