Create and manage price points

In this article: How to set up the price points that let students enroll in your course, including free, single payment, payment plan, and subscription options.

All Plans

Price points are how students enroll in your course. Each price point defines what a student pays (including nothing, if it's free) and how they pay it. You can create multiple price points per course to offer different payment options.

For example, you might offer a $297 single payment alongside a 3-month payment plan of $109/month, giving students a choice. Or you might create a free price point for a lead magnet course and a paid one for your flagship program.

Ruzuku charges zero transaction fees on all plans. You only pay standard processing fees from Stripe or PayPal (around 2.9% + $0.30 per transaction).

The four price point types

Type What it does Payment processor required
Free Students enroll without paying anything None
Single Payment One-time charge at enrollment Stripe or PayPal
Payment Plan Split into monthly installments Stripe only
Subscription Recurring monthly or annual charge Stripe only

Payment plans and subscriptions require Stripe. If you need those options, connect your Stripe account before creating price points. PayPal works for single payments only.

Create a price point

  1. Open your course and go to Manage Course → Price Points.
  2. If this is your first price point and you haven't connected a payment processor yet, Ruzuku will prompt you to connect Stripe or PayPal. You can skip this step if you're creating a free price point.
  3. Click Add Price Point.
  4. Choose the type: Free, Single Payment, Payment Plan, or Subscription.
  5. Fill in the details (covered below for each type).
  6. Click Create Price Point.

Your price point is now live. It will appear on your sales page automatically, and you can share its direct link with students.

Set up each price point type

Free

Choose Free when you want students to enroll without paying. This works well for lead magnet courses, free previews, community courses, or beta testing.

  1. Select Free as the type.
  2. Give it a name. Students see this name on your sales page and during checkout. Something clear like "Free Access" or "Enroll Free" works.
  3. Click Create Price Point.

That's it. Students can enroll immediately.

Single Payment

A one-time charge at enrollment. This is the most common price point type.

  1. Select Single Payment as the type.
  2. Enter the price amount.
  3. Name the price point. Students see this name, so make it descriptive. For example: "Full Course Access — $297" or simply "Enroll Now."
  4. (Optional) Check Allow gift purchases if you want students to be able to buy access for someone else.
  5. Click Create Price Point.

Single Payment works with both Stripe and PayPal. If you've connected both, students can choose their preferred method at checkout.

Payment Plan

Split the cost into monthly installments. This makes higher-priced courses more accessible.

  1. Select Payment Plan as the type.
  2. Enter the monthly payment amount (what students pay each month).
  3. Enter the number of payments.
  4. Name the price point. For example: "3 Monthly Payments of $109."
  5. (Optional) Add a free trial period in days. Students enroll immediately but aren't charged until the trial ends.
  6. Click Create Price Point.
Tip: If you offer both a single payment and a payment plan, many creators set the payment plan total slightly higher than the single payment to incentivize paying in full. For example: $297 one-time or 3 payments of $109 ($327 total).

Payment plans require Stripe. PayPal does not support recurring billing through Ruzuku.

Subscription

Recurring charges on a monthly or annual cycle. Students stay enrolled as long as they keep paying. If they cancel, they lose access.

  1. Select Subscription as the type.
  2. Enter the recurring amount.
  3. Choose the billing cycle (monthly or annual).
  4. Name the price point. For example: "Monthly Membership — $29/month."
  5. (Optional) Add a free trial period in days.
  6. Click Create Price Point.

Subscriptions work well for ongoing programs, membership communities, or courses where you add new content regularly.

Subscriptions require Stripe.

Naming your price points

Students see your price point name on the sales page and during checkout. A few naming approaches that work:

  • Descriptive: "Full Course Access — $297" or "Monthly Plan — $49/month"
  • Simple: "Enroll Now" or "Get Started"
  • Tiered: "Standard Access" and "VIP Access" if you have multiple options

Avoid internal shorthand like "PP1" or "Test price." Students will see whatever you type.

Common configurations

Here are setups that work well for different situations:

Simple paid course: One Single Payment price point. Clean, straightforward.

Paid course with payment flexibility: One Single Payment ($297) + one Payment Plan (3 x $109). Gives students a choice.

Free lead magnet or preview course: One Free price point. Students enroll without entering payment info.

Membership or ongoing program: One Subscription ($29/month or $297/year). Students pay as long as they want access.

Course with a free trial: One Payment Plan or Subscription with a 7-day or 14-day free trial period.

Mix of free and paid access: One Free price point + one Single Payment. Some students get in free (perhaps via a specific link you share), others pay.

What your students see

When a student visits your sales page, they see each price point as a separate enrollment option with its name, price, and an Enroll button.

If you have multiple price points, students pick the one they want. After clicking Enroll, they're taken to a checkout page where they enter their payment info (or enroll directly if it's a free price point).

Once enrolled, students land in your course and can start immediately. Ruzuku sends them a confirmation email with a link to access the course.

Edit a price point

  1. Go to Manage Course → Price Points.
  2. Click the price point you want to edit.
  3. Make your changes and save.

You can update the name, adjust limits, or toggle gift purchases on existing price points. You cannot change the price amount or type of an existing price point. If you need a different price or type, create a new price point and delete the old one.

Delete a price point

  1. Go to Manage Course → Price Points.
  2. Click the price point you want to remove.
  3. Scroll down and click Delete Price Point.

Deleting a price point removes it from your sales page. Students who already enrolled through that price point keep their access.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I have multiple price points on one course?
Yes. You can create as many price points as you need. For example, a free option alongside a paid one, or a single payment alongside a payment plan. Each one appears on your sales page as a separate enrollment option.
Does Ruzuku charge transaction fees?
No. Ruzuku charges 0% transaction fees on all plans (Free, Core, and Pro). You only pay the standard processing fees from Stripe (~2.9% + $0.30) or PayPal. Every dollar of your course price goes to you, minus the processor's fee.
Can I change the price of an existing price point?
You can't change the price amount on an existing price point. Instead, create a new price point with the updated price and delete the old one. Students who enrolled at the original price keep their access.
What's the difference between a payment plan and a subscription?
A payment plan has a fixed number of payments. After the last payment, the student has permanent access. A subscription charges on an ongoing cycle (monthly or annual). If the student cancels, they lose access. Payment plans work well for courses with a set price. Subscriptions work well for memberships or programs with ongoing content.
Do I need Stripe and PayPal, or just one?
You only need one. Stripe is the more flexible option because it supports all four price point types (free, single payment, payment plan, and subscription). PayPal supports single payments only. If you want to offer payment plans or subscriptions, you need Stripe. You can connect both if you want to give students a choice at checkout for single payments.
