Archive a course

In this article: How to archive a course you're no longer actively running, what happens to enrolled students, and how to bring it back later. All Plans

When to archive instead of delete

Archiving moves a course out of your active list without destroying anything. All content, settings, and student data stay intact. You can unarchive it at any time.

Use archive when:

  • A cohort has ended and you don't need the course front and center anymore.
  • You want to keep student data and course content for future reference or reuse.
  • You're not sure whether you'll run the course again.

Use delete only when you're certain you'll never need the course again. Deletion is permanent.

Archive a course

  1. Go to your Courses page.
  2. Click the gear icon on the course card.
  3. Click Archive Course.
  4. In the confirmation dialog, choose your options:
    • Signups open — leave this off to close enrollment (recommended for archived courses).
    • Revoke access for all students — toggle this on if you want to remove student access and cancel any active subscriptions or payment plans. Leave it off to let students keep accessing the course.
  5. Click Archive Course to confirm.

The course moves to the Archived section at the bottom of your Courses page.

Tip: Archiving alone doesn't affect student access. If students are mid-course and you want them to keep learning, leave "Revoke access" off. They'll still see the course in their list and can access all content.

What happens to students

What you choose What students experience
Archive without revoking access Nothing changes. Students keep full access to the course and all its content.
Archive with revoking access Students lose access immediately. Active subscriptions and payment plans are canceled.

Students can't see that a course is archived — it's a creator-side organizational feature. If they still have access, the course appears normally in their list.

Find your archived courses

Archived courses appear in a separate Archived section at the bottom of your Courses page. You can also use the View filter and select Archived to see only archived courses.

Unarchive a course

  1. Find the course in your Archived section on the Courses page.
  2. Click the gear icon on the course card.
  3. Click Unarchive Course.
  4. Choose your options:
    • Signups open — toggle on if you want to reopen enrollment.
    • Grant access to students — if you revoked access when archiving, toggle this on to restore access for previously enrolled students.
  5. Click Unarchive Course to confirm.

The course moves back to your active course list.

Important: If you revoked student access when archiving, access is not automatically restored when you unarchive. You need to explicitly toggle "Grant access to students" during the unarchive step.

Frequently Asked Questions

What's the difference between archiving and deleting a course?
Archiving hides the course from your active list but keeps everything intact — content, settings, student data. You can unarchive it anytime. Deleting permanently removes the course with no way to recover it. When in doubt, archive.
Can students still access an archived course?
Yes, unless you chose to revoke access when archiving. Archiving is a creator-side organizational feature. If you didn't revoke access, students continue to see and use the course normally.
What happens to active subscriptions when I archive?
Subscriptions and payment plans continue unless you explicitly toggle "Revoke access" during archiving. If you turn that on, all active subscriptions and payment plans are canceled and students lose access immediately.
Can I archive a bundle or digital product?
Yes. The archive option works for courses, bundles, and digital products. The process is the same.
