Step 2: Set up payments and pricing
In this article: Connect a payment processor and create your first price point so students can pay and enroll in your course. Takes about 5 minutes.
All Plans
You've built your course content. Now you need a way for students to pay and enroll.
Ruzuku handles enrollment and payment through price points. Each price point is a way for students to purchase access to your course. You might have one price point (a single payment of $197) or several (a free option, a one-time payment, and a payment plan).
Before you can create a paid price point, you need to connect a payment processor.
Connect your payment processor
Go to Manage Course → Price Points. If you haven't connected a payment processor yet, Ruzuku will prompt you to set one up.
Stripe (recommended)
Stripe handles credit card processing and supports all four price point types: free, single payment, payment plan, and subscription.
- Click Connect Stripe (or go to your account settings to find the Stripe integration).
- Sign in to your existing Stripe account, or create one during the process. Stripe will walk you through their setup.
- Authorize the connection. You'll be redirected back to Ruzuku.
The whole process takes about 2 minutes. You'll need your email address and bank account details for Stripe to send you payouts.
PayPal
PayPal supports free and single payment price points only. If you want payment plans or subscriptions, you'll need Stripe.
- Click Connect PayPal.
- Sign in to your PayPal account and authorize the connection.
Create your first price point
With your payment processor connected, you can create a price point.
- Go to Manage Course → Price Points.
- Click Add Price Point.
- Choose a type:
Free
Students enroll without entering payment information. Good for lead magnets, free workshops, or giving someone free access to a paid course.
Single Payment
Students pay once and get access. Set your price (for example, $197) and you're done. This is the most common starting point for new creators.
- Works with Stripe or PayPal
- Supports gift purchases (students can buy for someone else)
Payment Plan
Students pay in installments. You set the number of payments, the amount per payment, and the interval (monthly).
For example: 3 payments of $75 instead of one payment of $197.
- Requires Stripe (not available with PayPal)
- Optional: add a free trial period before the first payment
Subscription
Students pay a recurring fee (monthly or annual) for ongoing access. If they stop paying, they lose access.
Good for membership-style courses, communities, or programs with regularly updated content.
- Requires Stripe (not available with PayPal)
- Optional: add a free trial period
- Name your price point. Students see this name during checkout, so make it clear. "Full Course Access" is better than "Price Point 1."
- Set your price.
- Click Save.
Zero transaction fees
Ruzuku charges 0% transaction fees on all plans (Free, Core, and Pro). The only fees you pay are standard processing fees from Stripe or PayPal, which are around 2.9% + $0.30 per transaction.
If a student pays $100 for your course, you keep roughly $96.80 after Stripe's processing fee. Ruzuku takes nothing on top of that.
Test your payment setup
Before sending real students to your course, test the enrollment process yourself.
- Go to Manage Course → Price Points.
- Copy the link for your price point.
- Open it in a private/incognito browser window (so you're not logged in as yourself).
- Walk through the enrollment process. For paid price points, Stripe provides test card numbers you can use without making a real charge.
This takes 2 minutes and saves you from surprises when your first real student tries to enroll.
